ABOUT CALMER CACTUS

About Me

 

Hello! my name is Charlotte: trained holistic therapist, avid tea drinker (it's got to be Yorkshire!) and cheese lover. My mission is to help you relax, build resilience to your stressors and ultimately help you to maintain a better body balance. 

 

I have spent a large part of my working life in Human Resources and Employee Relations, more than a decade, in fact.  I chose that path as I wanted to guide people through the confusing world of employment rights.

 

What I saw time and time again was sadly all too common - the damaging effects of stressors at work. With increasing workloads and technology making employees more accessible, it wasn’t really any wonder to see so many people suffering. I also personally felt the debilitating effects of stress, suffering with migraines, IBS, low immune system, sleep and respiratory problems.

 

I know how tiring and all-consuming worrying is, how exhaustion makes it hard  to focus. I know how it feels to make silly mistakes and feel incompetent and lacking in ability. These things are all just temporary – it’s not who I was and it isn’t who you are! My own experiences got me searching for a solution and ultimately re-training in holistic therapies. Now I help people like you deal with daily stressors and aid relaxation so you can live a calmer life.

About Calmer Cactus

I often get asked about the name Calmer Cactus - I admit it's an unusual one! I wanted the name to acknowledge how we feel when we are irritated, off balance and generally out of sorts.

The Cactus part perfectly describes the prickly, snappy attitude we can develop when we are tired and stressed out (I have my hand firmly in the air here!). The Calmer part naturally comes from the feeling you get once you are relaxed from a treatment here!

What happens at Calmer Cactus?

I provide you with a complete personal experience, i.e. you will get me from the start to the end of the process. I will be the first person you contact and you will have me for the consultation, the treatment and the aftercare. On your first visit, you and I will sit down and chat about your general health in a 1-2-1 consultation. We will discuss your main areas of concern, what you want out of the session and, together, come up with a personalised treatment plan.​ ​

After your treatment you will have:

  • Advice on how ​to make the most of your treatment so it keeps having an effect on your body and mind even hours after

  • A better understanding of how to listen to what your body needs

  • Plus anything else I think will help you with your specific circumstances
